Dr. Loanie Huynh is a bilingual, licensed psychologist with experience in brief and long-term psychotherapies; supervision; community and program evaluation research; and mental health prevention, outreach, and advocacy. She has worked with culturally diverse individuals, groups, couples, and families seeking help for difficulties arising from depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationships and interpersonal problems, trauma, and severe and persistent mental illness. Dr. Huynh utilizes a variety of techniques in her clinical work, and has specialized training and experience in cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, interpersonal, and acceptance and commitment therapies; crisis intervention; and suicide prevention and postvention. Her clinical expertise is an extension of her major research accomplishments which include a cross-cultural examination of college students’ acceptance of rape myths and its impact on attitudes toward survivors of rape, a cultural adaptation of problem-solving therapy for Chinese American older adults, and multicultural suicide risk assessment.
