Ms. Moss is a licensed clinical social worker who received her master’s degree in Social Welfare from UCLA. She has been a staff clinician at CAPS since 2006. Colby entered the counseling field after several years in the entertainment industry, working in television development and eventually in social services for entertainment professionals. Prior to joining CAPS, she worked as a crisis specialist in the Student Counseling Center at the University of Southern California. In 2004, she completed a one-year advanced training program in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Colby served as a substance use disorders specialist at CAPS for several years and is experienced in treating addiction, depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, couples and relationship issues, as well as problems with anger and assertiveness. She has a special interest in group therapy and has experience in facilitating groups for anger management and substance use disorders, sexual abuse and assault, and interpersonal processing groups for graduate students. Drawing from several therapeutic approaches to help students clarify their needs and experiment with how to best meet them, Colby uses a variety of therapeutic modalities for fostering compassionate growth and change, including mindful awareness, motivational interviewing, and communication skills training.
