Clinical Experiences/Interests:Tarm’s previous clinical training in collegiate settings includes the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), Wellesley College, and Wesleyan University. Theoretical frameworks her training has focused on include relational-cultural therapy (RCT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral activation (BA), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Tarm enjoys working with communities and addressing concerns related to racialized communities (with an emphasis on the pan-Asian community), gender/power-based violence, 1st/2nd-generation experiences, life transitions, grief, belongingness, student leaders/activists, caregivers, and scholars. Her research focus is on social justice training within doctoral psychology training programs. She also enjoys facilitating personal and identity development with youth and young adults to shape future generations of critically-conscious leaders.
Approach to Treatment:Tarm’s work within wellness is centered on her values of education, leadership, and community. She believes that wellbeing is nurtured through and is a reflection of collective healing, community-oriented care, and empowerment. Her healing philosophy is informed by a systemic perspective and a relational-cultural lens, with roots in liberation psychology. She may also incorporate elements of CBT, BA, and ACT. Tarm honors the contexts of her clients and works collaboratively with them to help them move towards their values, goals, sense of self, cultural roots, and rest.
